Solo Exhibition Colors of Summer by Jacob Gils

June 18th – August 8th, 2026

This summer, InTheGallery Copenhagen is delighted to present the Solo Show: Colors of Summer, a captivating exhibition by Danish photographer Jacob Gils.

Join us for the opening reception on 18 June, from 5 PM to 8 PM, and experience a NEW collection of 9 works that celebrates light. Jacob’s first solo exhibition in Copenhagen since 2020, and the new production reflects everything that has happened in between. The exhibition brings together works from his Movement series,  built through multiple exposures that layer time and light into a single image.

For this exhibition, Jacob is also presenting a new printing process: the works are printed on Awagami Japanese paper, a handmade paper that lends the photographs a remarkable depth of texture and presence. Framed in natural wooden frames, the pieces feel closer to objects than photographs; something that really needs to be seen in person.

Since you last encountered Jacob’s work, much has happened. In 2024, he was awarded the Erarta Foundation Prize at Zonamaco in Mexico City, one of the most prestigious acquisitions prizes on the international art fair circuit. This year alone, his works has been shown at Art SG Singapore, Zonamaco, Intersect Palm Springs, Art Rotterdam, and AIPAD New York. He is currently preparing a solo exhibition at a gallery in Chicago. This Copenhagen opening is a rare opportunity to see the new production in full before the works travel.

Jacob Gils works at the intersection of time and stillness. In his Movement series, long exposures dissolve the familiar;  a pink cherry tree in Paris, his main artwork for this solo show.

Opening : June 18th,  5 pm – 8 pm
Where:  In The Gallery Copenhagen – Dronningens Tvaergade 19, 1302 Copenhagen
